Just thought I would post an article about the White House veggie garden, this is so exciting…

I also wanted to take time to comment on the book I am currently reading ‘The Omnivore’s Dilemma’ by Michael Pollan. I am about half way through this great eye opening book and it is amazing to me the stuff that happens with the agriculture industry. They do all they can to produce as much shitty corn as possible, then process it a million times over and add it to the food supply. It is no wonder 1 in 5 children are now obese in the country. In a recent Ohio State-Temple study 1 in 5 American 4-year-olds is obese. Here is the story:

I really appreciate what President and Michelle Obama have done to introduce the country to gardening but I think they are going to have to do more. Agribusiness has to be reformed or else we are going to get more stories like this (from the NY Times today):

To make things even more interesting, big agribussiness like Monsanto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsanto) is trying to buy up all heirloom seed companies and make that industry obsolete. Now this is just my opinion but this article seems to point out what is going on…

Also there is a documentary that will be out this summer called Food, Inc. here is the trailer…

Today at 7:44 a.m. was the official start of Spring. In Ann Arbor it was a balmy 20-degrees, but it is supposed to be in the 50’s this weekend perfect for doing to preliminary yard work.

Here is a great article that I read last night, the White House is getting a vegetable garden. Thank you Michelle Obama!
